Home/Environmental Modifications
Environmental modifications (E-Mods) are physical adaptations to the home that can increase or maintain one’s ability to live at home with independence. These improvements address any safety issues a person may have. E-Mods include but are not limited to ramps, lifts, hand rails and bathroom modifications (such as roll-in showers).
In addition to physical modifications to the home, E-Mods can include modifications that address sensory deficits, such as Braille identifications systems, strobe light smoke detectors, and alarm devices or modifications that promote a safer environment for people with challenging behaviors.
Where to begin:
Step 1: Reach out to your care manager to get started and learn about the e-mod process. Explore the resources below:

To be eligible for E-Mod services through OPWDD, you must be enrolled in the Home and Community-Based Services Waiver
Please note that all applications must be sent by your care manager to the regional email for OPWDD at opwdd.sm.region2.emods@opwdd.ny.gov
